Art Gallery Celebrates 25 Years in Village
|

On Saturday 4th November, Dorothy Legge and her
daughter, Merryl Connell will be celebrating twenty five years of business
at their art gallery and picture framing workshop, Britannia Gallery
on Branch Road Mellor Brook by having an “Anniversary Exhibition”
which will run from the 4th until 25th November 2006.
The business was founded by Dorothy’s late husband, Ron who, having spent some 34 years at sea in the Royal Navy, (hence the name of Britannia Gallery!) together with Merryl started the business in 1977 from premises in Preston before having the current gallery and workshop purpose built in 1981. |

Today
Dorothy is able to take a ‘back seat’ since the arrival
into the business of her grandson, Matthew on his return from seven
months working aboard one of P&O’s luxury liners as a member
of the ships photographers following completion of his photography degree
course at Blackburn College. |
